Karen has seventeen years accumulative knowledge of infection control practices and requirements for Hospitals, Long Term Care Facilities, Accident and Medical Centre’s and General Practice, Community Care environments, Endoscopy Services and Dentistry.  Karen is currently Chairperson of the committee that developed the Health and Disability Services Infection Control Standard - NZS 8142:2001 and associated audit tool and a member of the committee that developed the national guideline “Microbiological Surveillance of Flexible Hollow Endoscopes (SNZ: HB 8149:2001).

Karen is an experienced auditor including Health and Disability Sector Standards, Accident and Medical Clinic Standard and Day-stay Surgery and Procedures Standard, which includes xtensive teaching and public speaking ability and experience.

Outbreak investigation and management, evaluating new products and equipment for cross infection risk, and policy and procedure development are also key skills Karen has developed over the last 17 years.

Health Educators provide training to health professionals in the public and private sector.  We specialise in infectious control and can also facilitate to prepare specific course material, speakers.  We also arrange venues, to meet your requirements and normally keep workshops to approximately 50 people.
