RN, NZCertIC,has been a practicing Infection Control Professional (ICP) for more than twenty years providing consultation in both public and private health sectors throughout New Zealand. She has contributed to the development of infection control nursing in New Zealand through long standing membership of the NZNO National Division of Infection Control Nurses where she has held past positions of Secretary, Treasurer and member of the National Committee.

Francie has been a guest speaker at national conferences and is well known for her informal presentations and education sessions to a variety of healthcare workers throughout New Zealand. Francie provides expert commentary to the ACC on related treatment injury issues such as Central Line Associated Bacteraemia (CLAB) and Surgical Site Infection (SSI).

Francie’s long time passionate support and advocacy for ICP education and professional development is well demonstrated. She was a foundation advocate for the establishment of a national programme of learning for ICPs and was a co-author of the first infection control programme offered by Waiairiki Institute of Technology (Waiariki). Francie has been a guest lecturer at Waiariki for the past 18 years.

Francie currently holds a nurse portfolio at senior level in accordance with NZ Nursing Council requirements. She is currently studying Professional Ethics at the University of Auckland and completing studies towards a Masters degree in Infection Control.
